ਬੁਰੇ ਕਾਮ ਕਉ ਊਠਿ ਖਲੋਇਆ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਬੇਲਾ ਪੈ ਪੈ ਸੋਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਨ ਇਆਨਾ ॥ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਰੰਗਿ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਲੋਭ ਲਹਰਿ ਕਉ ਬਿਗਸਿ ਫੂਲਿ ਬੈਠਾ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਨ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੨ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਸਮਝੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਗਵਾਰਾ ॥ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਜੰਜਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਿਖੈ ਨਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਸੁਣਿ ਭੀਨਾ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਆਲਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥੩॥ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ਪੇਖਤ ਅੰਧੇ ॥ ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਝੂਠੇ ਸਭਿ ਧੰਧੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੪॥ ਤੁਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਉ ਹੋਈਐ ਰੇਨਾ ॥ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੨॥੮॥

ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ (ਤਾਂ) ਛੇਤੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ (ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ) ਲੰਮੀਆਂ ਤਾਣ ਕੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਬੇ-ਪਰਵਾਹ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਲ ਮੌਕਾ ਹੈ (ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਅੰਦਰ ਉੱਠ ਰਹੀ) ਲੋਭ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਮਾਇਕ ਲਾਭ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਤੇ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ (ਭੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ।੨। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲ ਭਲੇ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ) ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਧੰਧਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਵਿਸ਼ੇ-ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਕੰਨੀਂ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨੋਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਲਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩। ਹੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ! ਤੂੰ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਕਿਉਂ) ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਧੰਧੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਆਖ਼ਰ ਇਥੋਂ) ਚਲਾ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ? ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ । ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ।੪। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭੀ) ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣ ਜਾਈਏ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ) ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਹ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਓਸ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।੨।੮।
English Translation:-
SOOHEE, FIFTH MEHL: He gets up early, to do his evil deeds, but when it is time to meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, then he sleeps. || 1 || The ignorant person does not take advantage of the opportunity. He is attached to Maya, and engrossed in worldly delights. || 1 || Pause || He rides the waves of greed, puffed up with joy. He does not see the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the Holy. || 2 || The ignorant clown will never understand. Again and again, he becomes engrossed in entanglements. || 1 || Pause || He listens to the sounds of sin and the music of corruption, and he is pleased. His mind is too lazy to listen to the Praises of the Lord. || 3 || You do not see with your eyes — you are so blind! You shall have to leave all these false affairs. || 1 || Pause || Says Nanak, please forgive me, God. ave Mercy upon me, and bless me with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. || 4 || He alone obtains something, who becomes the dust under the feet of all. And he alone repeats the Naam, whom God causes to understand. || 1 || Pause || 2 || 8 ||
